Kersy Azocar is the Principal and CEO of Balance Consulting Group LLC, a practice focused on the economic development field and providing performance standards to maximize implementation of processes. Balance Consulting is the project manager of the Pennsylvania COVID-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program (CHIRP), a $17Million dollar Grant program created by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to support businesses in the hospitality industry.
Prior to working at Balance Consulting, Kersy worked for 13 years at FINANTA, a Community Development Financial Institution, as a Sr. VP of Microlending. She was responsible for managing FINANTA’s microlending department, SBA microloan programs, consumer lending and the national expansion of the microlending department. Under her leadership, FINANTA became the #1 SBA Microlender in the region and the top 8 in the nation for 10 consecutive years, closing over 1,800 microloans and over $6Million dollars.
Other notable accomplishments include leading an impact investment project in the Kensington neighborhood with a group of mainly Latinx entrepreneurs to purchase 6 residential properties, self-financed with over 16 investors, contributing a total of $500,000. The effort began in summer 2020 and successfully culminated in April 2021.
Kersy prides herself on her ability to work well with people, leverage connections and her expertise in the microlending and financial industries. In 2019, Kersy received a Crystal Award from Hispanic Media/El Sol Newspaper for her dedication and commitment to the Hispanic Community. She serves on the Board of The Merchants Fund, a nonprofit organization founded in 1854 that provides grants to businesses facing financial hardship in Philadelphia.
