Natalie Shieh

Natalie Shieh serves as Chief Operating Officer and Senior VP of the Northeast Region, bringing over 20 years of urban planning, real estate, and economic development experience from the public and private sectors while delivering on Urbane’s mission to build infrastructure that catalyzes community wealth and economic mobility.

In her role, Natalie leads daily operations at the firm, ensuring the smooth execution of business strategy. She spearheads talent management, financial analysis and reporting, and legal and compliance structures. As SVP of the Northeast Region, she will drive business development initiatives for Urbane's family of companies from New England to the DMV.

Prior to her current position, Natalie held the role of Vice President of Development at Brandywine Realty Trust. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role in building strategic partnerships and executing visionary master plans in the Northeast region, including large-scale, mixed-use developments such as Schuylkill Yards in Philadelphia and Discovery Point at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.

Previously, Natalie served as the First Deputy Director for the City of Philadelphia's Rebuild Initiative, where she was a strategic advisor, overseeing the management of a $400+ million capital improvement fund aimed at promoting diversity, inclusion, and community engagement for city parks, recreation centers and libraries.

Natalie's previous experience includes roles at Amtrak, where she served as Director of Major Stations Planning & Development, overseeing a billion-dollar portfolio of projects to enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency at major transportation hubs along the Northeast Corridor. Her accomplishments include negotiating complex public-private partnership (P3) agreements and directing the development of the 30th Street Station District master plan.

Natalie served as Deputy Chief of Staff for the City of Philadelphia's Deputy Mayor's Office for Economic Development where she directed policies, programs, and strategies to advance the economic development of the city, overseeing real estate development, legislative affairs, comprehensive planning, zoning reform, community outreach, and public communications. Her career also includes a project management role at the City of Philadelphia's Zoning Code Commission, where she managed the City's first comprehensive zoning reform effort in over 50 years.

Throughout her career, Natalie has actively contributed to professional organizations, serving on boards and advisory committees for NAIOP Philadelphia, ULI Philadelphia, and Citizens Planning Institute. She was named a 2023 Philadelphia Business Journal Woman of Influence and received the 2017 Institute Honor Award for Regional and Urban Design from the American Institute of Architects. She is a Certified Planner and registered LEED Accredited Professional.

Natalie is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she received her undergraduate degree in Systems Science and Engineering and two graduate degrees in Environmental Studies and City and Regional Planning.
