Maggie Clark Bachiri

Maggie Clark Bachiri is an urban planner with a background in neighborhood economics and financial inclusion. Her work  elevates community-driven processes for equitable development and small business support. 

Maggie’s role at Urbane includes project management, stakeholder engagement, data synthesis, and solution design. She has led projects that include an assessment of Philadelphia’s small business resource landscape; the design of an equitable economic development strategy for Philadelphia’s Navy Yard; a report on collaboration among NYC business and workforce stakeholders for job quality and small business success; and a study on opportunities for capital to stimulate small business growth, asset ownership, and infrastructure investment in SW Philadelphia. 

Previously, Maggie led housing needs assessments with M&L Associates, where she helped design methods to assess housing needs across neighborhoods and identify policy and development strategies. She has also worked on scaling financial empowerment tools at Commonwealth and supported grantees with a nonprofit focused on independent media in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Maggie has an M.S. in City and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute and a B.A. in International Affairs and Social Entrepreneurship from Northeastern University. She grew up in Peoria, IL and lives in Brooklyn with one two-eyed cat and one one-eyed cat.
